Book Review: Anne of the Island by LM Montgomery

Image
Anne of the Island - LM Montgomery - #3 in the Anne of Green Gables Series - 5 Stars Ya'll I loved this one so much! Anne goes on a new adventure as she packs her bags and heads for Redmond College. We see Anne really making her own choices and living life with friends and I just loved seeing her realize there was still good things to come in her next stage of life. I love the secondary characters and Davy made me laugh so much with his questions to Anne.  I also love Anne and Gilbert SO much! Excited to read the next one.

Book Review: The Roads We Follow by Nicole Deese

Image
The Roads We Follow by Nicole Deese (Book 2 Fog Harbor Romance but can be read as a standalone) 4.5 / 5 Stars Nicole Deese tells a powerful story of love, loss, dreams and family in this road trip novel filled with faith, forgiveness and in depth characters you will LOVE! I LOVED the ending most of all in this book. I was teary eyed at the beauty depicted in the family reconciliation.  In this book, we follow Raegan Farrow and Micah Davenport - we see how their worlds collide in the "roads they follow" and the answers they find together. Raegan is the youngest daughter of a country music legend, Luella. Raegan's biggest dream is to publish her small town romance under a pen name, where she doesn't just get her book out there because of who she is. After that dream is shut down, she hears a rumor about a tell-all being written about her family and she isn't sure what to do about it or if she should tell her mother and sisters what she's learned. Cut to Micah

Book Review: Love in the Storm by Mandi Blake

Image
Book Review: Love in the Storm by Mandi Blake - 4.5 Stars!  Ya'll Mandi Blake does it AGAIN! Her books are always just the BEST comfort reads for me personally and I loved this one. A snowed in trope, forced proximity, characters with depth, a sweet romance, great Christian faith content, what more could we ask for?!  In this story, we have Lyric who is a new Christian with a troubled past filled with drugs, alcohol and mistakes. She's been clean for 5 years and is a new Christian excited for her journey with the Lord. When a snowstorm sneaks up on them, Lyric gets stranded with the handsome police officer, Asa, who arrested her 10 years ago. He doesn't recognize her right away but she's worried how will he feel after he finds out her past... They get to know each other and the rest is history as a romance blossoms. I loved the way Mandi wrote this story. It was a quicker romance but YALL even though I am not a quick romance person, Mandi ALWAYS gets me hyped for the

Book Review: Wild Montana Skies by Susan May Warren

Image
Wild Montana Skies - Susan May Warren (Book 1 in the Montana Rescue Series) - 3.5 Stars This is the start to the Montana Rescue series and I enjoyed my time with it. I was listening to the audiobook but the lady's singing pulled me out the story some, so I switched to the e-book at the end. In this story, we follow Search and Rescue helicopter pilot Kacey Fairing who is back home in Mercy Falls, Montana and her ex, Country Music Star Ben King. Ben left his past behind when he moved to Nashville 13 years ago to start his career. But when his father is injured, he comes back home and realizes things were not exactly how he left them 13 years ago. We quickly find out Ben and Kacey had a daughter together and this is the first time Ben learns about her because of so many misunderstandings years ago. Ben and Kacey work together for many different situations throughout the book and we see their relationship start back up in this second chance romance story. Meanwhile, we have a side st

Book Review: The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center

Image
The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center - Releases June 11th 2024 - 2.5 Stars  Honest discussion incoming. I started this book really enjoying the storyline and feeling like Katherine Center can just tell a good story. 2 Screenplay writers in Hollywood working together to write a rom-com?! Let's go right?! And I will say, I really enjoyed The Bodyguard and Hello Stranger by Katherine Center, so I was so pumped for this one! (And I will still be reading her backlist because I have heard nothing but great things about those!) Unfortunately, this newest one just wasn't for me for several reasons and I ended up being disappointed. I am very appreciative to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy to honestly read and review of the eBook and audiobook - and the narrator did a great job in narrating the story to keep you engaged - I did want to keep reading and listening - but like I said, it ended up not being for me. As I mentioned this is about 2 Screenplay Writers who are working tog

Book Review: Leaning on Air by Cheryl Gray Bostrom

Image
Leaning on Air - Cheryl Grey Bostrom 4.5 stars What a roller-coaster of emotions packed into this book! This book follows Celia and Burnaby, who knew each other as teens and reconnected 12 years later and end up married. After a decade of marriage, they find themselves going through some of the toughest years of their marriage with many traumatic events. Celia is devastated with the after effects of everything she has endured and Burnaby is trying so hard to make their marriage work. We follow this couple on their journey to overcome tragedy together and we see how God is involved the entire time. This was was such an impactful story - especially to me as an Autism Boy Mama. I specifically loved the introduction when Burnaby is explaining how God has been with him through his autism - when he is explaining what's helped him in his growth - the way it was explained means a lot to me because as an Autism Mama, we worry about our own children with the unknown of "will our child

Book Review: Battleshipped by Savanah Scott

Image
Battleshipped by Savannah Scott (Book 2 in the Getting Shipped! Series) - 4.5 Stars  What a fun second chance - high school sweethearts rom-com! You will laugh SO many times while reading this and I think the audiobook was fantastic! Great small town setting with amazing friend groups too! The banter was hilarious and the situations they got themselves into make me crack up so much.  This features Rob and Laura who dated in high school but upon graduation, Rob broke it off to go to MIT for college. Skip to 6 years later when he is back in town and continues to run into Laura. Are they meant to be? Are things going to be the same as they were before? Is the spark still there? They start interacting and hanging out - and the sparks fly! The chemistry is off the page here and I loved seeing Rob trying to win her heart.  I think the pacing was just a tad slow for me at the start but once things picked up, I was INVESTED ya'll! I love these characters so much and can't wait for th

Book Review: Shattered by Dani Pettrey

Image
Shattered by Dani Pettrey (Book 2 in the Alaskan Courage Series) - 5 Stars I loved this second book in the series. Landon and Piper's romance story was great and the suspense had me on edge, as usual.  The Storyline: Deputy Landon Grainger is very close with the McKennas, just like they are family. When Piper's prodigal brother Reef is back in town and is accused of a murder he didn't commit, we see Landon involved in finding the truth. This book is set in Alaska, which is one of my favorite book settings. I love this family, the friends, setting, romances and how Dani sets you up for the next couple for the next book. We saw so much of Gage, Piper's other brother, and learn a lot of his past as well. Book 3 features his romance with Darcy, a reporter he works with in this book.  I am highly anticipating Gage's story! The faith content was great too as we saw several moments of prayer. Book Review: The Nature of A Lady by Roseanna M White

Image
The Nature of a Lady by Roseanna M White - 4 Stars  Storyline: In 1906, we follow Lady Elizabeth (Libby) Sinclair who loves all things microscopes and nature, but isn't favored by society. She travels to the beautiful Isles of Scilly for the summer and stumbles right into the secrets left behind by the cottages former occupant, also named Elizabeth, my has mysteriously vanished! Oliver Tremayne - a clergyman - is determined to figure out what happened to his sister Beth as he starts to get to know the girl who is staying at her summer cottage, Libby. They end up working together to solve this mystery.  I really liked this book, it kept me engaged and I really liked the romance that blossomed between Oliver and Libby. I also enjoyed seeing Libby's faith journey. Libby had many faith questions and Oliver really helped her see she is fully known by the Lord. One of my favorite quotes: “He knows your name. Not Libby, not Elizabeth Sinclair. Your true name, the one at the heart of

Book Review: The Women by Kristin Hannah

Image
The Women by Kristin Hannah - 4 Stars  The Women is such a hyped book right now and I see why! What an impactful read where Kristin skillfully weaved in the details of the Vietnam War, showcasing the women who served as nurses there during that time. I absolutely loved this book and you will not be able to put it down - that's for sure. The only reason it wasn't a full 5 star perfect read for me was some things going on with the romance throughout the story but I overall enjoyed it. This one is going to grip you, pull at your heart strings and not let go. We follow our main character of Frances "Frankie" McGrath, a "good girl at home" with her family in the 60s. We see her brother go off to war and she is inspired to follow in his footsteps after graduating nursing school and being told by her brother's friend that "Women can be heroes too." War heroes are very important to her father so she also wanted to make her family proud as well. Unfor

Book Review: Love in Tandem by Becca Kinzer

Image
Love in Tandem - Becca Kinzer - 4 Stars Love in Tandem was SO funny! I loved Dear Henry, Love Edith last year by Becca and was so excited to dive into her next read and I was not disappointed! I laughed and laughed in this book! If you are looking for a book that is light hearted with LOTS of laughs, this is for you! I really needed this book to during the time too after reading a fairly heavy historical fiction read. So glad I picked this up! I love Becca's writing style too! In this story, we follow Charlotte who is a music teacher. She realizes that the grant funding for the school's music program is getting cut and she is concerned about how to continue the program. We see Charlotte in a HILARIOUS meet cute situation meet up with Zach Bryant - her brother's ex-fiancé- and somehow their family thinks they are dating! So, in this fake dating situation and thrown together in a 500 mile tandem bicycle contest for some BIG prize money- and you have a great story that is sure

Book Review: Wolf Children by Mamoru Hosoda

Image
Wolf Children - Ame & Yukoi - Mamoru Hosoda - 4 Stars  Hana falls in love with a young man in her college class but learns he is part wolf. They fall in love and when they have children, we see this cute picture of their family together and little wolf children. Unfortunately, as soon as you start this book, you find out quickly that  their father is killed, leaving Hana as a single mother to try and raise her little wolf children, not knowing the best decisions to make throughout the story.  This story was beautiful, yet sad. I am so glad I read through it and really want to watch the film now. So emotional. Hana was just wanting to do her best as a single mom and take care of her children the best way she could. I loved seeing others help her too along the way.  Amazon:  https://amzn.to/3PTKFRs *Amazon links are affiliate links and a commission may be earned on any items purchased from these links. *Amazon links are affiliate links and a commission may be earned on items purcha
