We return to Three Rivers with a picturesque backdrop of the small town ranch setting. This becomes the stage for a compelling romance between two very strong-willed people. Dawson is a man driven by the need to prove himself to his family, as he struggles with OCD and Anxiety. Caroline is a dedicated Wildlife Conservation Officer, fiercely committed to saving the endangered owls that have made the trees on Dawson's family ranch their home.
Ya'll, the tension between Dawson and Caroline is so obvious from the first meeting! I loved seeing their relationship grow. Caroline has been through a previous mentally abusive marriage and divorce so she is hesitant about dating or getting married again. Dawson continues to deal with struggles from his OCD and Anxiety. Seeing them grow to care for one another through those things was beautiful. Their relationship is built on a foundation of mutual respect and understanding.
It was nice to see characters from the previous books as the side characters give depth to the story. The small town setting feels like a character itself as it's richly described and you really feel like you are part of this close-knit community.
I also really enjoy the faith in these books. We have prayers, church going and discussions about God and His plan and forgiveness/redemption. Overall, these are some always some great feel-good stories that I enjoy and I look forward to the next book.
Thanks to the author for providing an advanced reader copy to honestly read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
