Solo for the Season by Martha Keyes

Solo for the Season by Martha Keyes
5 Stars
SO CUTEEEE

THIS WAS SOOOO ADORABLE. What can I even say?! READ IT!

➡️⬅️ Forced Proximity
πŸ˜‚ Childhood Teasing → Adult Tension
πŸ’˜ Former Crush
πŸ”️ Snowy Mountain Setting
🌲 Small-Town Romance
❤️‍πŸ”₯Somewhat Enemies to Friends to Lovers
❄️Snowed In Trope

I love the snowed in trope and a handyman sooooo this was right up my alley. We have Wes, the once-teasing childhood classmate Maggie remembers all too well and the guy who somehow manages to be the handyman fixing up all the cabin issues :) Maggie goes on a solo cabin trip and they get to know each other better as he keeps coming around helping with cabin maintenance and other issues.

I loved their communication together, the banter, the laughs, the sweetness....the christmas feels - SO CUTE.

Highly recommend as a kisses only, clean, closed door - rom-com for the Christmas season!

Reputation at Risk by Martha Keyes

Reputation at Risk by Martha Keyes 4.5 Stars
(Book 1 in the A Chronicle of Misadventures Series)

Martha Keyes' Reputation at Risk is an engaging historical romance that combines intrigue, romance and the high stakes of Regency-era society perfectly. As an enemies to lovers story, we have some great back and forth banter between the love interests that reminded me of the type of banter we see in Pride and Prejudice. It was great! This book centers on Charlotte Mandeville and Anthony Yorke, two individuals whose lives become intricately entwined due to the perilous nature of reputation and secrets.

Charlotte has a niche for herself in the high society of the Regency era by being involved in local gossip and by crafting satirical caricatures of high society. She is able to get herself involved as needed in different situations very easily. Anthony is a man with a guilty conscience and a brother to exonerate. His path crosses with hers and they end up faking an engagement as they work together.

The author's writing style perfectly captures the Regency era and you will find yourself with several laughs throughout the story as the back and forth between Charlotte and Anthony had me laughing out loud several times! This was a true enemies to lovers story and with me not usually loving that, I thoroughly enjoyed this one! The characters were well crafted and the plot with the conflict was well done. We see how these characters agree they don't like each other upfront but this journey of them starting to like one another was perfect.

Highly recommend if you love a good Regency era, clean romance story!

The Widow and the Highlander by Martha Keyes

The Widow and the Highlander by Martha Keyes 4.5 Stars

My first Martha Keyes book and will NOT be my last! Excited to read ALL her books now because this was wonderful! As someone who loves a good Scotland setting, especially in the 1700s, this clean historical romance did not disappoint! Such a charming story! We also have one of my favorite tropes - marriage of convenience! :) This is a very well written story with great characters, a sweet romance and an engaging storyline. I read this in less than 1 day y'all!

We start off with Christina MacKinnon inheriting the estate from her husband who passed away. There is someone who was next in line that threatens everything she has inherited when Lachlan Kincaid returns to the MacKinnon's property to reclaim what was rightfully his. Lachlan wants justice served to the MacKinnons for betraying his family years ago and depriving him of his inheritance. What Lachlan finds is more than he anticipated though as Christina and Lachlan's lives intersect and they join forces to achieve what they want together. During this time together, they grow close and a romance begins.....

I truly loved this story. I want to continue in the series and see what happens next! The Scottish details were fantastic for me personally and I loved the sweet romance. Lachlan is the PERFECT guy for her. I loved seeing this because of the bad relationship Christina had with her previous husband.

There were a couple of things I didn’t love about the ending but overall this was a solid 4.5 star book and I’m looking forward to the next one in this series and other books by her!❤️πŸ™ŒπŸΌ
