I have enjoyed this series from Misty, it's one of those that I know is always going to have a sweet romance thread, good faith themes and good family dynamics.

In this one, we follow Lord Thomas Balfour and Kate McKinney. He is the younger brother who is pretty reckless. His brothers find him a wife without his knowledge and they take him to meet her but as things would have it...things change and Kate is the one involved in this marriage scheme. Kate and Thomas end up in a blizzard situation, stranded over night. They are seen and her reputation will be ruined if they do not marry. Little do they know the danger that is to come their way.

I really liked the snowed in aspect, their conversations, the high stakes bits, faith moments, etc. I think if you want something quick to read with the below tropes, check this out. I recommend reading the series in order just so you are familiar with all the family and characters.

Book 2 in the Lord of the Rockies Series

Just love this series! Misty sure knows how to keep you interested!! We pick up where book 1 left off, so I highly recommend starting with book 1 since we see Enoch and Mandie's story continue a bit in this as well from where things ended. You can read it as a standalone but its best in my opinion to start with book 1 :) 

This is James and Rose's romance story. James Balfour is one of the brothers we follow throughout this series and Rose Prescott is his childhood friend on the run for her safety. James is determined to prove his worth on the ranch and Rose is trying to escape her abusive step-father as he had a contract for her to continue working for him for many years. She goes on the run answering an ad to help James and his family but when James realizes it's Rose from so long ago, his protective instincts kick in. They reconnect on the ranch and when trouble comes knocking...James isn't going to let her step-father win. 

We also have a bit of a mystery tied in too that was unexpected and kept me engaged in the book. 

I think this series is a good one for anyone who likes Rocky Mountain settings, Christian Historical Romance and a good family saga. The Christian content was good also!

Book 1 in the Lords of the Rockies Series

Misty always has really great characters in her Christian Historical Romances. I loved this one. With some heavier topics, this was layered, had depth and had good faith content.

Mail Order Duchess is the first in her newest series, the Lord of the Rockies series. Enoch is forced to step into his late brother's role as heir and he ends up inheriting more than he realized he would...a mail-order bride...Mandie Beaumont. Mandie takes a journey as a young widow on the run to Montana after being assaulted by her brother-in-law. She's pregnant from the assault and needs to get away as soon as possible. She gets there and an accident causes her memories to be temporarily unavailable...until the memories start to return and she realizes exactly why she left in the first place, leaving the trauma to resurface and Enoch to make a decision about what to do next.

What truly stood out to me about this book was Enoch and Mandie build a relationship together before the "marriage of convenience" from the "mail-order bride" situation. She's walking through this pregnancy from tragic expectations, Enoch is 100% on board to help her and love her. He is protective of her when trouble returns so I loved him for that. We also have a great family saga.

This was a good collection of Christmas novellas centered around the Nativity story. Each one had something unique and different. 

Novella #1: The Shepherd's Heart by Tracie Peterson - 5 Stars 

Loved this one so much. On the western frontier in 1875, we see a widowed sheep rancher with his children, Vincent Duran. He needs a mother for his two children after losing his wife and other children. He and his remaining two children have been through so much grief. Angel Lewis agrees to marry him, a marriage of convenience if you will. They brace a winter storm and find love again. I loved seeing Angel walk through the grief with this family together, helping the children understand what happened and about how to trust God even through hardship. Seeing the real meaning behind Christmas on display through the Nativity story was the best too. I have never read a book by Tracie, but now I have to check out her books!

Novella #2: No Room at the Inn by Misty M. Beller - 4 Stars 

Also on the western frontier but in 1861, Hope and her brother run an inn. A blizzard forces everyone to stay at Hope's home, where a romantic interest occurs between Hope and Noah. Everyone literally has "no room at the inn" and they have to figure out how to all stick together during this storm. Meaning of Christmas is shared and we have very much a Pioneer tale at Christmastime. 

Novella #3: A Star in the West by Karen Witemeyer 4.5 Stars

This one is set in Waco, TX in 1890. This one had a "3 wise man" and a "baby" storyline. A thread of Christmas redemption in Christ too that I really enjoyed. Frank is a Harvard Math Professor who comes to Waco and meets Stella. He is socially awkward and she doesn't see herself as she should. They interact a lot together and there was also some fun humor was in this one too but the ending had serious topics involved and a mention of a brothel / women working at the brother but the redemption in Christ is shown in the situation. 

Overall, this is a great collection that is going to be a good one for the Christmas season, especially to my friends who appreciate good Christian content in their Christmas novellas.

I really liked this one! I love a good marriage of convenience story and this one is my favorite of Misty's so far in this series. I really need to go back and read more of this series, because I am so connected to this family!

Saving the Mountain Man's Legacy is the series finale in this series. We follow Jedidiah's daughter, Grace Hampton, who is one her way to town to see her father with the newborn baby someone left on her doorstep to raise as her own. She runs into Sampson Coulter, who is determined to undo his mistake he made that has jeopardized his family. Sampson takes Grace and the newborn baby girl to her father safely, yet her father isn't having it. He says Sampson has ruined her reputation in their travels, even though nothing happened between them. He forces them to marry. We see their bond grow - not just between each other but with the precious baby they are raising. The story continues on here and we root for Sampson in his journey from regret to redemption. 

Misty packs a lot in these stories - the family elements, faith content, rocky mountain settings, romance - you name it, she can keep you invested!

I loved Grace and Sampson together. It was nice to see this slow burn romance between them - even though they were forced to marry, they took their true romance slow. Sampson is an instant protector hero you want to root for - his battle isn't just about his family back home, but the new family in Grace and baby Ruby. 

Grace wasn't afraid to jump right in to help either, which was great to see her bravery right in with everyone else.

Overall, I think a lot of people who read Christian Historical Fiction would like these. These are quick, "bingeable" reads I recommend!

In this book, we are in the Montana Territory on the Coulter ranch. Miles is 1 of 6 brothers and has spent his life helping guard the family's sapphire mine hidden in the Montana mountains. Threats from a past enemy looms and a survey team's arrival stirs suspicion -- until he meets Clara Pendleton and he is captivated by her. We see her Uncle hurt and Miles' family helps them out, but Clara gets roped up in some trouble with the enemy....things go on from here.

This was a really nice read! It makes me want to go back and read the other books in the series now because I really enjoyed these characters. It's set in the late 1800s and the slow down of life and focus on faith and family is ever present here. Even though our characters have lost loved ones in their lives, they hold close to the family that remains and take care of their own. Oh, and I loved the details with the Sapphire Mines too! 

Clara is put between and rock and a hard place - a situation where she has no idea what to do, except to trust the Lord in it. She does the best she can in the circumstances and I love when things are revealed how it was handled between her and Miles. It was mature and there was understanding and grace given. 

I like how their romance grew and the way it ended too! Very sweet. He was very protective of her, which I always love in a historical romance. :)

This is part of a series but I feel like you could read this as a standalone as I did and still enjoy it and not miss anything. But I will be going back and reading others in the series, because I need to know!

Rocky Mountain Journey by Misty M. Beller - 4 Stars - Book 3 in the Sisters of the Rockies Series

This series has been a series of faith, perseverance and the transformative power of love. I have really enjoyed reading through this series and look forward to more of her books in the future. At its core, this story is descriptive and paints a beautiful picture of the Rockies and the perilous conditions faced by the characters. Following one of the sisters introduced in the series, Faith, pretends to be dressed as a man so she can embark on a journey to find the Peigan Blackfoot woman who once saved her father's life. Along the way, she joins a group of trappers, in hopes they can help her. She meets a man, Grant Allen, who is also searching for his brother and Grant becomes suspicious of Faith right away. The story takes of from here in their journey together.

I really liked Faith's resilience to find this woman and take up this journey. We really see this life of what it would have been like during this time for the characters. Grant was also a really great guy - he is always there to help along the way. The faith content in this one was really nice too. 

If you like a good, clean historical romance series, I recommend picking this one up.

This book follows Lorelei Collins, sister of Juniper Collins from book 1. She has such a heart for animals, especially animals in need. In this story, we see Lorelei and her sisters on their ranch in the Rocky Mountain wilderness as she finds a buffalo calf without its mother. She brings it home to their ranch and soon realizes its a rare and sacred animal to the Native Americans, making it very valuable to them and the European trappers in the area. Many men come to the ranch for the calf, many with ill intentions. Tanner Mason, the owner of the new trading post, sticks around to help Lorelei by allowing them to stay at his post for safety reasons. Danger looms though, a bit too close to home....

If you like a good western romance, pick this series up! I think I enjoyed book 1 a bit more, as the pacing in this was a bit off for me, but I overall enjoyed it and love Lorelei as a character! I love a good character who loves animals and wants to help. She has such a beautifully compassion for them that is very honorable. Tanner was a nice guy who wanted to protect her - and we see Lorelei opening up to the idea of it! 

I also LOVE seeing the family relationship here with the sisters and seeing Juniper again was great! Overall, a solid western series that I have enjoyed following along with and look forward to the next one!

Rocky Mountain Rendezvous - Misty M. Beller - 4 Stars - A wonderful journey out west with great characters, a unique setting and a sweet romance! (Book 1 in the Sisters of the Rockies Series)

Rocky Mountain Rendezvous will take you on quite the journey out west! I really enjoyed the setting, characters, history and sweetness of the story. This was my first Misty Beller book and I’m eager to read the next in this series as it left off with a little bit of a cliffhanger – and ya’ll already know I NEED TO KNOW what happens next in a book like this! If you love sweet reads with historical elements, the rocky mountain setting, a western vibe and a character driven story, this is for you!

This story is all about Juniper Collins and her sisters, Rosemary, Faith and Lorelei. They travel to the Rocky Mountain Rendezvous in search of a Piegan Blackfoot woman that helped saved their father’s life many years ago. As they settle in the Green River Valley (future Wyoming), they stand out like a sore thumb in the midst of the rendezvous and Riley Turner comes along, compelled to help these ladies in their journey. The story kicks off from here as Riley Turner and his friends take it upon themselves to help these sisters find Steps Right – the Piegan Blackfoot woman.

I learned so much about the early 1830s rendezvous, where traders would meet to trade needed supplies. I had never heard about this so it’s always nice to learn about something in the past like this and research it on my own. It was so interesting to me. This is a very character driven story, I loved the sisters and their bond in strength together. Riley was a nice guy and I loved seeing him try to help them along the way. There was a nice light faith element as well, where the characters pray to the Lord and their thoughts go to Him many times. Some parts were a little slow for me, but I overall enjoyed the story and I’m super excited to continue on in the series. I love the way Misty brought this historical setting to life with a great adventure. Thank you to Bethany House, Baker Publishing and NetGalley for providing a copy to honestly read and review.
